One of the tools we use in our Character-Animation Strategy is the Gesture Viewer. This is a library of all the animated gestures and capabilities of each character in an animated project.

The Gesture Viewer is used by the animator or developer who is implementing the animation, to preview all the functionally build into an H5Build character.

Here for example are the gestures and capabilities built into Max and Mia:

  1. Lip-synced Mouths: All our characters have mouth assets that are auto-lip-synced using the amplitude of the attached audio file.
  2. Purple Buttons, Mouth Sets: These characters have multiple mouth-sets to help express five different emotions.
  3. Green Buttons, Body Gestures: These buttons allow the user to preview all the main body gestures
  4. Character Switching: There are actually three characters built into Max and three built into Mia.  Click on the grey “character” button with the + sign to switch among them.
  5. Skin-Tone Sliders: All characters have a full range of skin tones.
  6. 2D and 3D Eye Models: Animators can choose and switch between the 2D and 3D eye options. With the 2D model, the eyes follow the cursor as if it is directly on the monitor plane. The 3D model places the cursor in 3D space between the characters and the viewer. Drag the cursor between the character’s eyes to clearly see the difference between the two models.
